Christmas Chain
Forget the tinsel and garland. Let the kids make a chain from aluminum foil which comes in different colors, especially during the holiday season. Cut foil in squares, then roll to make chain link.

Cookie Christmas TreesDecorate a buffet table with a trio of snowy cookie trees. Make a base frosting by beating together six egg whites and 3¾ cups confectioners’ sugar. Spread a thin layer of frosting on a Styrofoam cone, then, working up from the bottom, overlap vanilla wafers (use straight pins to hold them in place until the frosting dries). Use a small sieve to dust each finished tree with confectioners’ sugar.

Unique Christmas Ornaments
Balloon Ornaments
At Easter time my grandmother use to make a lot of decorations using crochet thread, balloons and sugar starch. Martha Stewart provides instructions to make Christmas ornaments using glue instead of sugar starch. Rubberband Ornaments Using colored rubber bands, create a ball. Tie on a bit of ribbon with a cord to hang from window. You can always use a Styrofoam ball and cover it with colored rubber bands to make the job go faster. Cookie Cutter Ornaments Tie on colored ribbon to aluminum holiday shaped cookie cutters, and then hang on your window or tack to your window casing. |
Holiday Wreaths With A Twist
When the holidays roll around, many individuals have wreaths hanging on their doors and in their windows. How about making a wreath that will not only be decorative, but feed wild birds as well.
